Frequently asked questions
Everything you might want to know before you start. Can't find your answer? Our team is one message away.
General
Is NestAbroad a bank or a landlord?
No. NestAbroad is the technology layer that coordinates your journey. Accommodation is provided by suppliers, and regulated money movement by a licensed payment partner. We're clear about who's responsible for what.
How do you keep listings trustworthy?
Every listing is verified for source, terms and freshness before publication. We record a last-checked time and automatically suppress stale or disputed inventory.
What does 'pay in your local currency' mean?
After your booking is confirmed, you get a monthly schedule and pay each instalment in your supported local currency through a licensed partner — in the money you actually earn and spend.
Which countries does NestAbroad support?
NestAbroad is globally accessible to students from any country. Our current study destinations are the United Kingdom, United States and Canada. Accommodation availability, payment methods, currencies and specialist services vary by destination and partner coverage — select your country to see what's available to you.
Is my data safe?
Yes. We collect only what's needed, store consent as versioned evidence, and never expose sensitive data in links. You can view, correct and withdraw where the law allows.
For students
Is my accommodation guaranteed?
A booking is confirmed only once the provider records their response. We never imply guaranteed acceptance — you always see the real status and the responsible provider.
How do I actually pay?
NestAbroad presents your monthly schedule and hands you to a licensed partner's secure checkout — Stripe, Flutterwave or Nuvion, depending on your country and currency. You can pay by card, Apple Pay, Google Pay, bank transfer, USSD or mobile money in 130+ currencies. NestAbroad never stores your card or bank credentials.
What if I'm under 18?
Younger students go through an assisted, guardian-consent flow before self-service continues. Safeguarding comes first.
Paying in local currency
Which currencies are supported?
You can pay by card and wallet (Apple Pay, Google Pay) in 130+ currencies, and by local methods — bank transfer, USSD and mobile money — in supported markets such as Nigeria (NGN), Kenya (KES) and Ghana (GHS). Your available options and currency are shown before checkout, and we never advertise a route until a licensed partner has confirmed it.
How do I see the status of a payment?
Every instalment shows a live status — pending, successful, failed, cancelled or expired — reconciled against your schedule with an authoritative check with the payment partner. You get a receipt for each successful payment and a full history you can review any time.
Does NestAbroad hold my money?
No. A licensed partner accepts and moves the money. Where a protected-funds arrangement is legally approved, the partner holds and releases funds, not NestAbroad.
Guarantor support
Can I get a guarantor now?
Guarantor support isn't live yet. Register your interest and we'll notify you when it's available for your journey. When it activates, the approved provider makes the decision on their eligibility criteria, and NestAbroad shows you the honest outcome.
